I am a huge fan of Joe Vitale. He is a very successful, generous, and spiritual human being. I’ve listened to a lot of his audios, read his books, and follow his blog and twitter feeds. I am now working on manifesting seeing him at a live event.
According to Neale Donald Walsch, you don’t need God.
Hmmmm…..
Did that statement surprise you?
Did it enrage you?
Did it ring true for you?
Did it peak your curiousity?
When Neale says you don’t need God, it seems to go against everything he has been writing about in his “Conversations with God” series and his current book “Happier Than God”. But in fact, it doesn’t

Are you happy?
The dictionary defines happy as characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy. Everyone wants to be happy, right?
Why does it seem overall the world is not happy?
The world on a whole is more prosperous. There are more gadgets and tools to make life easier. People have more disposable income to make their lives more comfortable. Yet people are feeling more stressed and having a difficult time coping with their daily life.
More opportunities exist to try different things, travel to exotic places, and experience what the world has to offer. Yet there is void that screams to be filled. Your soul asks “Is this all there is?”.
There are a multitude of ways to connect through travel, calling on the phone, and chatting on the internet. Yet many feel disconnected.
How can that be?
Is it really that difficult to be happy? And can you actually be happier than God?

Earlier this week I attended a motivational seminar produced by GetMotivated.com. It was very well done. Over 5000 people attended this event. Its not often events like this come to Hawaii so I wasn’t about to miss it.
There were a lot of dynamic speakers.
Sports figures: Kurt Warner, Eli Manning and Coach McMakin
Finance experts: Rich Town, James Smith
Business/Sales experts: Rick Belluzo, Tamara Love, Bob Catell
Motivational/Inspirational Experts: Zig Ziglar, Krish Dhanam, Dr Robert Schuller, Rudy Giullani
All of them talked about what it takes to be successful and how to stay motivated. There were the regular common themes, such as persistence, practice, life-long learning, preparation, communication, integrity, giving and helping others, etc.
Many of them recognized God as their source of success.
I really enjoyed Dr. Robert Schuller’s presentation. He discussed how God shows up in our lives.
How does the Divine reveal itself to us?
Have you ever wondered why you are not rich? Not in a great relationship? In a unfulfilling job?
The problem is the negative beliefs you have which block happiness and success.
You may believe millionaires are selfish and not happy people. Or you come from a broken home, so you can’t be successful in a relationship. Or you should be satisfied to just have a job, especially when the economy is so bad. The list goes on.
What is the biggest and worst belief out there?

I grew up in a family that didn’t go to church or talk about God. High school was my first exposure to religion and God. I attended an Episcopalian high school which required us to go to service weekly.
There were too many rules which didn’t mean anything to me. I didn’t learn anything about a higher power and the role it plays in my life
I also visited churches my friends attended, but I never felt comfortable. So I thought God wasn’t for me because I couldn’t find a church or religion which rang true for me.
It wasn’t until I was in my thirties and was going through a divorce that I revisited the concept of God. I wanted to believe there was a power greater than me. I wanted help, support and comfort as I was going through this difficult time in my life. It seems that my religious friends had that in God.
But I still couldn’t separate the divine from religion.
Then I attended a retreat. A pastor was facilitating even though it was not a religious retreat. It was a place for people to safely work through the pain and issues they were currently facing. This pastor introduced me to the concept of spirituality.
I learned you can have a relationship with God without having to belong to a specific religion. It is a personal relationship which anyone can have. Since everyone is different, this relationship will be unique to them. God is available to everyone and anyone. Religion is one method which helps people to deepen their relationship to God.
What is “Divine Power”?
